CLAUSTHAL. 04/11/2016. Wan Gang is already nine years Minister of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China. Before, he spent 16 years in Germany, as he stressed himself: the larger part at his mother school. In the future, his path will lead him now regularly to the holiday region Harz, because Wan Gang received his honorary professorship at the University of Clausthal during a ceremony on Sunday. During his speech, the popular figure reflected the still high requirements of the University; but not without emphasizing the good preparation for his next professional stations. Wan Gang has become a lover of and an important multiplier for Germany: his daughter Jieni Wan studied in Munich. She delighted the festival’s audience with expressive piano music from German and Chinese composers.

Wan Gang is in Germany until Wednesday – tomorrow he is expected in Berlin and later flies back to China. The positive memories of his stay in Clausthal will at least prepare him for the difficult tasks in his home country – and hopefully bring him back to the Harz for the next lecture.
